Cameron, though sweet, smart, and utterly adorable, has a thing for pulling things over on himself. He may not know what’s on the edge of that table, or that it may very well weigh more than he does, but by God, he’d going to get it. This meant that for the first time in my life, we’re not putting up a Christmas tree in my home.
If you couldn’t tell, I LOVE the holidays, and this is a little devastating to me. I mean, a year ago I figured we’d just cover a poker table and put a little 3′-4′ tree on it. No. Way. Would that work with this kid. So I had to get creative. Then I saw a commercial for The Home Depot, and I had it! I sought out the idea and lo and behold, The Home Depot had both of the ideas I wanted to use on their YouTube channel. They’re both brilliant ideas for families with children like mine who like to grab at anything that is even remotely in reach, but don’t let the tutorials fool you: they take a lot more effort that these videos let on. Yes, they’re relatively simple, but there are some subtle complexities that I’ll discuss in greater detail next time.
I love the frame idea. My brother in law put a hook in the wall and ceiling and toed the top & side of the tree to keep it from being pulled down by their 3yr old.
